Freyling Park Master Plan
Council, as a demonstration project to developers, proposed to undertake a small-lot residential development, Freyling Place, with an adjoining district-level park. The park master plan was one part of the larger residential development project.
The vision for the park was to create a colourful, fun and active district recreation park that services nearby residents, and was an attractive destination for surrounding neighbourhoods and was a feature entry statement for the City.
The design centred around creating a colourful park showcasing Toowoomba’s vibrant seasons.
Whilst there has been support for the park’s design, there was been strong community objection to the small-lot residential development with Council deciding that the proposal would not go ahead. The community is currently exploring a range of options to develop the park.
